Tactics are for players not just for coaches

Breaking Lines with the Wall-Pass

Another theory session! In todays blog post the wall pass. This is a strategy that can be used on all parts of the pitch to get out of tight situations or an opposition press. It is important to see and recognise how the opposition line up, even while you are playing so that you can organise your team better.
The +1 rule is what we like to go with at the back, so that you have stability but at the same time also still have numbers forward to implement your attack.

If the player on the ball has space and can move forward then this should always be the first option. If the opposition cut passing lanes effectively, then your team needs movement into the spaces that are available.
Lets see how Brazil did this vs. Chile!
Practice technique every day during training and at home, so that when these situations come up on match day you are able to execute the right passes without thinking about the technique itself, but rather the situation. Find the best solution to move the ball forward into the final attacking third!
